# Failed to import scan with error "scanlib\\src\\rmsmarker.cpp : 199 : decoder\_rmsmarker::get: bad preamble"

When importing raw data data, you may encounter this error:

> Failed to open query for "file:C:\\Riegl Scans\\\<project-name\>.RiSCAN\\\<project-name\>.PROJ\\ScanPos001.SCNPOS\\scans\\260101\_010101.rxp". Reason: "rivlib-2.7.1.0\_gbbc48adec : x86\_64\_windows\_vc143 : scanlib\\src\\rmsmarker.cpp : 199 : decoder\_rmsmarker::get: bad preamble"

This error means that the rxp file referred to in the message has become corrupted, usually when off the scanner. Please try to copy the files off the scanner again.
