Using an RTK correction service with a RIEGL VZ-600i
The RIEGL VZ-600i is able to receive RTK corrections to improve the GNSS position of the scanner. These corrections are received over an internet connection, usually provided by a mobile device acting as a wifi hotspot, as the VZ-600i does not have a 4G/5G radio built in.
The VZ-600i requires the RIEGL RTK-capable receiver, product code Ri-RTKM, as shown below, either with or without a camera:

This example explains how to configure a VZ-600i with a camera, and using the VRS Now correction service.
Step 1 - configure the VZ-600i GNSS settings
From the scanner's home screen, tap on the GNSS icon:

and then tap on the name of the currently selected GNSS Configuration:

Choose VZ-600i RTK with cam (if your scanner does not have a camera, choose the "without cam" option):

Tap the Edit button:

We want to set up the VRS Now correction service in this example, so edit the fields as follows:
-
Name: VZ-600i RTK with camera | VRS Now
-
User Antenna Position/Shift: (-0.029, 0.000, 0.256) (note: these are correct for the RTK antenna with camera. For the RTK antenna without camera, the values are different)
- Description: GNSS RTK receiver mounted on top of the scanner with camera. Corrections via VRS Now
- Connection: 6
- Correction Source:
- Mode: NTRIP Client
- Address: www.vrsnow.co.uk
- Port: 2101
- User: enter your VRS Now username
- Password: enter your VRS Now password
- Mount Point: enter your assigned VRS Now mount point
- Send Position to Provider (NMEA GGA): Yes
- Origin CS: WGS84, geographic 3D
- EPSG Code: 4979
Tap Save As, at which point you will be asked for a filename (note - this is an internal name and is used to save the file and won't normally be visible to the scanner operator; it cannot contain spaces):

Step 2 - test the configuration
Take the scanner outside, and ensure that it has a clear view of the sky. Check you mobile device has an internet connection, and that the scanner is connected to the wifi hotspot.
Check the scanner has internet access by tapping the Settings icon on the scanner home screen, then Network, and then scroll to the bottom and check:
-
Preferred Internet Route: WLAN
-
Internet Available: Yes
Now tap the GNSS status icon and observe the Status. In the example below, the Status is "Single", and there are no RTK Corrections. The GNSS positionally accuracy is estimated as 74m.

Moving the scanner to a better GNSS position, and with RTK corrections coming in, the status will change to "RTK fixed", and the position accuracy will drop to RTK levels - 0.0245m in this example:
