# Voxel registration failed. voxelregistration.exe returned code 1 (0x1)

### Symptoms

Automatic Registration 2 fails with error messages like these:

> *2025-03-04 16:14:10+751 \<!\> \[17048\] Automatic Registration 2... - Voxel registration failed. voxelregistration.exe returned code 1 (0x1)*
> 
> *2025-03-04 16:14:10+760 \<!\> \[17048\] Automatic Registration 2... - Plane registration failed. Voxel registration failed. voxelregistration.exe returned code 1 (0x1)*
> 
> *2025-03-04 16:14:10+763 \[x\] \[17048\] Automatic Registration 2... - Coarse registration for ScanPos169 failed. Voxel registration failed. voxelregistration.exe returned code 1 (0x1) Plane registration failed. Voxel registration failed. voxelregistration.exe returned code 1 (0x1)*

Additionally, the scanner failed to complete a scan during the data capture process - for example, the scanner ran out of power midway through a scan, or the storage was full and the scan couldn't be saved.

### Cause

The AR2 licence code that is embedded in the raw data gets corrupted when the scan fails. This prevents AR2 running successfully.

### Resolution

Delete the incomplete scan, unregister the project, and then perform the Automatic Registration again.
